Thinking about Health

Yesterday I visited the dentist for my yearly preventative check-up and while he was scraping around inside my mouth cavity it got me thinking about health. Not only dental health, but physical health, mental health, emotional health, and spiritual health.

As a freelancer, working from my home studio, I occasionally feel cut off from the rest of the world. I find going for morning or evening walks through the park can be mentally cleansing (and physically good) and setting time aside to catch up with friends and family is also important for me. It can't be all about work.

And of course there's eating healthy. Taking the time to eat good quality food - without scrolling social media while I eat.

Maintaining our overall health is a lot like that dental check-up - it requires regular attention and care. It's easy to get caught up in work and forget about the other aspects of our lives that need nurturing. Sure, work is important, but we should also make time for our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
